The IO3 (input/output) relay board is a 1.7" x 2.5" circuit board that interfaces with the LDR3x preamp controller board (V1 or V2) to switch between up to 3 audio input signals. Beyond that primary switching function, it also serves as the overall interface point between multiple input/output jacks and the LDR3x.

Input switching

  • Switches between up to 3 single-ended (unbalanced) audio inputs

  • For balanced audio, a pair of IO3 boards is required, each mated to its own LDR3x controller

  • Switching is via individual non-latching electromechanical relays per input/channel (3 per channel, 6 total)

Signal separation

  • No co-mingling of left/right channel signals within the board

  • Left and right channel ground stay separate

Power & control

  • Relays run on 5 VDC, powered externally by the LDR3x controller board

  • Relays are activated by the LDR3x switching them to ground

  • Can be interfaced to any control device with similar "switch to ground" capability

  • Power and control run through 4 signals on a 5-pin header: +5V and Input 1/2/3 (current sink to ground)

Termination

  • Via 0.1" pitch miniature screw terminal blocks — 2x 6-position blocks between incoming audio signals and the IO3, 2x 3-position blocks between the IO3 and the LDR3x (aligned with the equivalent terminal blocks on the LDR3x.V2 board)

  • Alternative termination via solder pads for all input/output signals and grounds

  • Same 2.5" width as the LDR3x board, so it can be mounted directly on top of the LDR3x with appropriate standoffs

What’s included?

  • IO board — 1.7" long x 2.5" wide (same width as the LDR3x board)

  • Power/control cable — a set of 4 female-female pin jumpers for connecting the IO board to the LDR3x controller board

Tortuga Audio did not provide any mounting fixtures or hardware for the IO3.
